How to Get a Tax Number

We frequently receive the question of how to get a tax number with SARS.

There are two ways that you will be able to register for income tax:

-  You can visit your nearest SARS branch with an IT 77 application form.  You would need to take along your original ID and proof of address. 

Proof of address may only be a lease agreement or latest rates & taxes bill.  To verify your banking details you need to take the following as proof...Original letter from the bank stating your bank account details as well as original stamped bank statement.

-  If you are salary earner your employer can register you when doing the bi-annual IRP 5 reconciliation. If you do not yet have a income tax registration number,  we will gladly assist you with this application.
